Wakefield Civic Society Restaurant of the Year announced

At the Society’s Annual General Meeting held on 23rd April, the Society’s President Kevin Trickett announced that Tết Restaurant on Cross Square, Wakefield, had been voted ‘Restaurant of the Year 2025’ by members of the Society’s Dining Club.

The Society’s Dining Club was established in 2010 as an informal means to bring members together. Each month, members meet at a different restaurant in and around the city centre and then, at the end of the meal, they score their experience of the evening. At the end of the year, the scores are totalled up and the ‘Restaurant of the Year’ accolade goes to the establishment with the highest score.

In 2025, the Dining Club met eleven times (there was no meeting in December as the date was considered to be too close to the date of the Society’s Annual Dinner).

Mr Trickett said

“When we started the Dining Club, we never really thought about how long it would keep going – yet, here we are, some 16 years later, and the Dining Club goes from strength to strength with around 25 to 30 of our members coming together once a month for wonderful company, bubbly conversation and, of course, great food.

“Our Restaurant of the Year Award is voted for by our members and recognises the quality of service, the value for money and, of course, the excellence of the food. On behalf of our members, I extend our congratulations to Tết’s proprietor Linh Hoai Le Thi and her team for once again making us so welcome on the evening we visited.”

This was the second year in succession that Tết, a restaurant specialising in Thai food and pictured below, has won this award having also been voted Restaurant of the Year 2024.
