Celebrating Wakefield’s Railway Heritage and Blue Plaque Unveiling

Join us at Wakefield Exchange on Thursday evening, 2nd October 2025 for this very special event to celebrate Wakefield’s Railway Heritage as we unveil a blue plaque to Wakefield-born locomotive builder Thomas Peckett.

This event is part of the programme of Railway 200 events, a national celebration of the ‘modern railway’.

Venue: Wakefield Exchange (WX), Union Street, Wakefield, WF1 3AD

Opening Hours for the exhibition: from 6pm to 9pm

Event: Presentations and the Blue Plaque unveiling will start at 7:00pm

This is a free event open to everyone. You do not need to be a member of the Civic Society to attend.
